Hey there, nice to meet you!

In case we haven't met before, I'm Marrett

(pronounced Mah-rhett, like a barrette for your hair).

Welcome to my little collection of PSAs to the universe!

A little bit about me and how this blog came to exist:

I'm a microbiologist by training and a helper by instinct. Next year I plan to take some time off before applying for a Physician Assistant program and I could not be more excited!

I'm a runner, pretend-cyclist, and sometimes triathlete. I have a severe case of wanderlust and I'm always planning my next adventure. I love food and think it tastes ten times better if you're eating it at the end of a hike or next to some famous European river with friends. Unless it's pizza, because pizza is always good.

From the age of thirteen I always pictured myself as a physician (Dr. Hild to save the day, right? I mean it sounds good...) I started realizing, however, that in our culture there is a fundamental lack of patient empowerment in medical care. Most often, health problems start at home. In our kitchens and in our minds. And they're entirely preventable.

Sound overwhelming? It doesn't have to be. I promise.

Here's where I come in. No, I'm not here to tell you that eating kale will cure your Type II Diabetes or that taking some Dr. Oz-backed supplement will melt away your body fat. I'm here to help you wade through that crap and give down-to-earth, actually useful advice.

For me, the whole point of this crazy, confusing, mixed-up life is to give and receive as much love as you can and I truly believe that self-love is the foundation of that exchange. I hope I can shed some light on how to find that balance and help you learn a thing or two in the process!

xoxo - Marrett
